Bible Study – Why God Loves Those Who Fear Him

Jesus said in Matthew 10:28 (NIV), “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.” He said that we have to fear God otherwise the consequence is severe.
Most Christians prefer to hear about God’s love, mercy and grace only. As the concept of Godly fear is not that popular today, many people cannot relate to what it’s like to fear God. Many thought that the fear of the Lord is an Old Testament philosophical construct not relevant to New Testament times of grace.
Christians today profess love towards God but hardly think about their fear of Him. Do we need to fear God? And what is Godly fear for that matter? What about You? Do you have the fear of God in your heart? Most importantly – what it is to fear the Lord?
